ANOTHER ONE! We’ve got another BONUS coming at ya! Episode 41 features Meriam Seboka is a German immigrant with Ethiopian heritage and the creator of Melannial Money.
Meriam Seboka is a German immigrant with Ethiopian heritage and the creator of Melannial Money. On Melannial Money, Meriam is sharing all her tips about budgeting, crushing debt and building generational wealth. Meriam found her passion for financial literacy soon after graduating from college while trying to improve her credit score.
Her passion led her to switch careers to become a High School Teacher in order to teach young people about the importance of managing their money. Find out how Meriam paid off over $16,000 of debt in the past 10 months!
You can follow her on Instagram, and check out Meriam’s blog.
We were floored by this lady’s ability to get personal finance tips across so easily and clearly. Personal finance can be intimidating and overwhelming for beginners—Meriam is great at breaking things down and making things accessible (We suspect it’s because she’s a natural born educator).
Episode 41 Highlights:⠀
- The impact of witnessing our family struggle financially⠀
- The scarcity mindset (aka spending lots of $$$ when we get our first real job, to make up for all the time we weren’t able to)⠀
- Her debt payoff plan and why it’s so important to actually have one⠀
- Budgeting for fun, enjoyable things⠀
- Celebrating each and every win (no matter how small) in our #debtfreejourney⠀
We love how Meriam makes sure to prioritize happiness, even in the midst of a debt payoff journey. A lot of personal finance advice would have you think that you have to live on ramen and avoid anything remotely enjoyable to pay off debt. We don’t follow this type of extreme doctrine. When you make sure to budget for things that make you happy….it will make the process easier to stick to.
We want to know: how do you budget for happiness? What’s the line or category on your budget that brings you joy? Make sure to comment below!
