Episode 325 talks about managing your partnership in business & parenthood, featuring Sabrina Castillo. Listen now!

Sabrina Castillo brings over 20 years of experience in communications, community relations, and business strategy to her impactful work. A visionary entrepreneur, leadership coach, and brand strategist, she is deeply committed to fostering authentic engagement, empowering women, and building businesses that thrive with purpose and innovation.
At the core of her journey is family. Sabrina is intentional about building a legacy rooted in the values she created—one that prioritizes faith, ambition, and the freedom to dream while fully living in the present. She has always known that motherhood is not something to get lost in, but rather, a foundation to build from. Being a mom is her highest calling, and everything she does stems from that deep sense of purpose.
As a co-founder of Carlitos Barbecue Taqueria, a thriving Latino-owned restaurant brand, Sabrina blends strategy, marketing, and culture to grow a business that reflects her family’s roots and vision. Carlitos launched in 2017 as a food truck in Jersey City—when she had a two-year-old and a one-month-old baby—and has since grown into four quick-service locations, a mobile business vending at major events like Smorgasburg NYC, and most recently, a full-service expansion with Carlitos Tequileria. With a focus on bringing authentic barbecue-style street tacos to the masses, Carlitos continues to thrive, with a second full-service Tequileria set to open in Summer 2025.
Sabrina is known as the queen of pivots, having successfully navigated four distinct careers—each one a testament to her ability to evolve while staying true to her values. She began in the Latino entertainment industry, working with Telemundo and Mun2, collaborating with artists like Aventura, Daddy Yankee, Don Omar, and Julieta Venegas, and helping major record labels expand into new markets.
She then transitioned into civic engagement, playing a key role in launching Voto Latino and leading major outreach initiatives as Director of Partnerships and Outreach for NYC Votes. Now, as a business owner, coach, and strategist, she continues to create and innovate, just as she did in her early 20s—only now with deeper wisdom, clarity, and a mission driven by faith and family.
Sabrina thrives in the hard stuff—building, pivoting, and creating space for big dreams while staying grounded in the moments that matter most with her children. Whether coaching entrepreneurs, leading community-driven projects, or shaping new ventures, she remains steadfast in her mission to inspire, uplift, and foster collaboration for a better future.
In this episode, Sabrina shares her journey as an entrepreneur and mother, offering a behind-the-scenes look at what it really takes to grow multiple businesses while raising a family. She talks about her early days in public relations, the bold risks she took to pursue entrepreneurship, and how the unwavering support of her family helped shape her path.
Sabrina opens up about making tough financial decisions in the name of long-term goals, staying true to her values, and finding purpose beyond just profits. She reflects on the challenges of scaling a business while staying present for her family, and why quality time matters more than quantity.
She also touches on working alongside her partner, building strong support systems, and the mindset shifts that helped her push past fear and limiting beliefs. Through it all, Sabrina stays focused on creating meaningful experiences—in both business and in life—and evolving into the next version of herself.
