Episode 267: Reliving OMOP: The 1st Financial Freedom Conference For Latinos

Brenda Juarez aka “Coach Bren” is first and foremost a self proclaimed strong and courageous soul. She is also a first and a ½ generation Latina Certified Life Coach, Podcaster, Community Builder, local town Chamber of Commerce President, VP of nonprofit “Cumbre Humboldt”, Entrepreneur and happily Married Momma.

Bren currently exclusively coaches within the JustBe.NYC online Wellness Brand and Community. Most of her clients are trying to break generational cycles and live a more conscious life.

Coach Bren has spent the last decade transforming from a trauma filled L.A city girl to a self aware small town woman with a purpose.

Bren is most present on Instagram, and is always answering DM’s with questions, concerns or curiosities.

Elin Cervantes is a seasoned educator with a unique blend of experiences and passions. With over 18 years working in the field of education, as a school counselor and school site administrator, she brings a wealth of knowledge and insight to her work in the field. Hailing from the vibrant city of Oakland, CA, Elin’s roots run deep within her community.

Through passionate conversations and frustration with the system, Elin started Empowered Education Consulting LLC with her homie Christina from high school. Both educators, they knew they had to do something to support educational leaders who were committed to the REAL work. Being in business for 5 years now, they have a podcast, Empowered Educational Conversations with Elin & Christina, and they coach and consult educational leaders.

In this episode, we look back on the Our Money, Our Power Summit that took place in Puerto Rico in 2023. A couple of our guests, Elin and Brenda, share their experiences and takeaways from the event.

They discuss the importance of creating spaces where people feel a sense of belonging and can learn about money in a culturally competent way. The conversation also touches on the impact of the event on their personal and professional lives, as well as the need for representation and diverse voices in the financial education space.

If you were able to attend OMOP last year, you know how magical of an experience that was. The transformative event created a sense of belonging and empowerment for attendees. It was curated to make everyone feel comfortable and included, unlike other conferences where attendees may feel like outsiders. Attendees left the event with a message of empowerment and encouragement for women and Latinas to continue putting themselves in empowering spaces and embracing their power.
