Louis Barajas has strived to redefine what it means to be a wealth and business expert. Rather than limiting his scope to the size of the client’s bank balance, investment portfolio, or retirement account, his approach has always been to show people how to use their finances to enrich their lives. Louis connects with people through their passions, their dreams, and their sometimes-challenging situations of life. The ever-changing landscape of consumer finance has helped to transform Louis into an international renowned speaker, author, media segment expert, and wealth & business manager to some of the most iconic Latin artists and executives in the entertainment industry for over three decades. He is a highly sought-after keynote speaker and presenter for some of the most influential organizations in the United States.
From 2017 to 2021, Louis has been selected as one of the top 30 business managers in Billboard Magazine and has also been featured in Variety Magazine’s elite business managers list. He was featured on Investopedia’s Top 100 Advisors for 2019 and was selected to CNBC’s Advisory Council for 2020-2022. Louis is the first minority to ever serve on the national board of the Financial Planning Association and he is currently the first Latino to serve on the national board of Certified Financial Planners for 2022-2024.
For almost two decades, Louis has been a leading advocate in diversity and inclusion for the financial planning industry. Louis has served on the Financial Planning Associations Diversity & Inclusion Committee and the Certified Financial Planners Center for Financial Planning Diversity Advisory Group. In 2018, Louis also was given the award as the See It, Be It Role Model for Investment News Excellence in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Inaugural Awards.
Part of his endearing passion to give back to the financial planning community and the public was highlighted in 2014 with the prestigious Heart of Financial Planning Award from the Financial Planning Association. Louis was named The Small Business Journalist of the Year by the Los Angeles District Office of the Small Business Administration. Money Magazine named Louis as one of America’s Top Advisors and was chosen by People en Español as a person making a difference in the lives of Americans.
Louis loves to teach and has been an adjunct professor on financial planning. He has published five books on personal finance and entrepreneurship and will release his sixth book, The Go-Better Entrepreneur, in 2023.
Louis has been featured in national and regional publications such as USA Today, The Miami Herald, The Los Angeles Times, People en Español, Success Magazine, Hispanic Business, Senior Market Advisor and Latino Leaders Magazine. He has provided his financial and business insights to national news programs such as CBS Sunday Morning, CNN’s Your Money, CNN’s Your Bottom Line, CNBC, Fox Business News, Aqui Y Ahora and Despierta America on Univision, ABC News, ABC7 Vista LA, KCAL/KCBS, National Public Radio’s Tell Me More and NPR’s Marketplace Weekend Edition. In 2015 and 2016 Louis was part of NPR’s Family Matters live tour at several major universities throughout the United States.
