Episode 179: 2 Sisters, 2 Survivors | Lianne Torres | Watch Us Thrive Podcast

Lianne Torres is a Personal Development Coach & Podcast Host. She’s been on her  own personal development journey since 2021.

At the height of the 2020 pandemic, she found herself in a physically and emotionally abusive relationship that almost took her life. After escaping that toxic relationship, she noticed that she was attracting the same type of toxicity in her romantic partners time & time again. She recognized that the common denominator in those relationships was her and knew it was time for a hard reset in order to begin healing her deep rooted wounds.

In the process of her journey, Lianne started her podcast, Watch Us Thrive, to share about her life experiences. Her brand has become a beautiful & safe platform where guests share their own testimonies of turning their pain into power and trauma into triumph.

More recently, she launched her private, 1:1 coaching program where she helps single women who’ve experienced toxic and/or abusive relationships pick up the pieces, reconnect with their inner magic and come back stronger than ever.

Lianne is passionate about helping listeners and clients heal from their own traumas by candidly sharing her own and the stories of others. Watch Us Thrive is a safe space that highlights tough & taboo conversations and is dedicated to being a resource for the voiceless. Like she always says: “We’re gonna talk about the sh*t you don’t want to talk about…but it NEEDS to be talked about!”

Listen to weekly episodes of the show available on all major podcast streaming platforms like Apple podcasts & Spotify every Tuesday at 5AM EST.

You can follow Lianne on her websiteInstagram, YouTube, Threads, TikTok, LinkedIn & Twitter.

💜October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month💜 and here at Yo Quiero Dinero® , we wanted to shed light on a very unspoken topic: domestic violence.

Listen to this special bonus episode 179 featuring 2 real-life sisters sharing their stories of overcoming abusive relationships. Jannese has shared bits and pieces of recently divorcing her ex-husband after almost 10 years of marriage and this episode is the first time she is sharing her story to the world.

Domestic violence, also called “domestic abuse” or “intimate partner violence”, can be defined as a pattern of behavior in any relationship that is used to gain or maintain power and control over an intimate partner.  When it comes to hearing the word domestic violence, society automatically assumes the relationship is physically abusive. While that may be the case for some, there are many different forms of abuse that are seen in these types of relationships.

Abuse can also be sexual, emotional, economic or psychological actions or threats of actions that influence another person. This includes any behaviors that frighten, intimidate, terrorize, manipulate, hurt, humiliate, blame, injure, or wound someone. Domestic violence can happen to anyone of any race, age, sexual orientation, religion, or gender.

We hope that episode 179 can shine the light on many types of abuse that are left unspoken. Did you know that 1 in 3 women and 1 in 7 men will become a victim of domestic violence in their lifetime? The numbers are staggering of this silent epidemic. If you haven’t personally dealt with this, you know someone who has. Abuse is abuse no matter what it looks like, and shouldn’t be acceptable to tolerate in any relationship.

No one deserves to be abused. The abuse is not your fault. You didn’t ask for it to happen. You didn’t do anything to cause the abuse to happen. Please know that we are sending you all the love and support & understand that you are not alone. Help is available to get you through your journey to healing💜.

Let us know what your biggest takeaway was from episode 179 in the comments below.

Note: If you or someone you know is being abused, please call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233), text the word “START” to 88788 or visit thehotline.org for confidential support.
