FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Planned for Puerto Rico in fall 2027, DiversiFI aims to bring culturally relevant conversations about wealth, entrepreneurship, and financial independence to the main stage.
TAMPA, Fla., September 24, 2026 – Jannese Torres, founder of the Yo Quiero Dinero podcast and author of Financially Lit!, has launched a $100,000 crowdfunding campaign to bring DiversiFI, a financial freedom conference created for Latinas and Black, Indigenous, and other people of color, to Puerto Rico in fall 2027.
DiversiFI is being developed to address a gap Torres has experienced firsthand in the financial education and business event space. Communities navigating first-generation wealth building, family financial obligations, and unequal access to capital deserve programming that reflects their realities and ambitions.
“I’m tired of attending conferences where we’re treated like an afterthought,” said Torres. “Our communities have the expertise, the ambition, and the desire to build wealth. We deserve a space where our experiences shape the entire conversation.”
The proposed conference will focus on increasing income, building businesses, investing, and pursuing financial independence. Torres envisions a gathering where attendees can learn from experts with relevant lived experience, develop practical next steps, and connect with others working to become the first wealth builders in their families.
The crowdfunding campaign puts community support at the foundation of the event. Contributions will help cover the upfront costs of producing a live conference, including securing a venue, event production, speaker participation, and staffing. The $100,000 goal is intended to help move DiversiFI from concept into production. The event’s realization will depend on funding, with the final venue, dates, speaker lineup, and ticket information to be announced as planning progresses.
Torres is also inviting corporate sponsors and aligned organizations to participate, with an emphasis on partnerships that meaningfully serve the audience.
“Producing a live event takes real money, and too often, the people who need these spaces are expected to wait until a corporate budget decides they matter,” said Torres. “We’re asking our community to help build this with us, and we’re inviting brands to back that vision with a real investment.”
Puerto Rico is central to that vision. For Torres, whose parents are from Ponce, hosting DiversiFI on the island would connect her work in financial education with her heritage and create an opportunity to bring attendees together in a place with deep personal significance.
